The Balam Escape will focus on hiring and training local talent, creating 500+ jobs in the first phase of the project. We expect, that by the time the project is completed in its entirety 1,000+ jobs will have been created. This is on top of the tens to several hundred construction workers that we will employ indirectly through general contractors.
As part of our overall efforts to ensure that the vast majority of the economic benefit generated by this project remains in the regional economy, it is imperative that workers can live in the area. We intend to achieve this goal through (1) a fair, living wage and (2) providing affordable housing. Even though we may not directly hire many employees/construction workers, we are committed to have all contractors adhere to our social sustainability principles.
